Marissa is also the owner and managing attorney of her own law firm, the Law Office of Marissa L. Simmons, which she founded in June 2016.  Prior to opening her practice, Marissa clerked for various solo practitioners and small firms, engaging in various practice areas from family, entertainment, employment, and personal injury.  After working as a mediator in both Georgia and California courts, aiding hundreds of landlords and tenants in negotiating disputes, Marissa expanded her practice to include assisting both landlords and tenants with the eviction process and representing employees in employment matters.

Marissa believes in serving her community and seeks out every opportunity to do so. She has served on the board for the Langston Bar Association for two years, both as the chair of the Young Adult Committee and Outreach and Community Action Committee.  In an effort to show young minority women that they can dream bigger, Marissa also regularly speaks at elementary, middle, and high schools.
